Helping kids in foster care
In the US every year, over 300,000 children must be rescued from abusive or dangerous homes. They are often quickly removed to foster care or shelters and have no chance to pack any personal belongings. They arrive with no clothes, no toothbrush, no stuffed animals, nothing or their own. Even worse, what little they may have is often carried around in a trash bag, earning them the nickname "trash bag kids". The My Stuff Bags Foundation provides such displaced children with a bag full of stuff just for them. New clothes, toiletries, and a blanket and plush toy to give them some comfort during tough times. My Stuff Bags Foundation is focused on kids entering crisis care, but they do also provide bags to children displaced by natural disasters. |
